Army R&R Travel from Overseas

RUMOR:

Your soldier has to pay for his own travel back home during R&R when he is deployed overseas.

FACT:

No, he does not. The military pays for this flight to the airport of his choice. The only stipulation is that whatever airport he flies into is the same airport he must fly back out of when he returns to theater.

Please note there is a scam where unsuspecting people are being told that a “soldier” must pay thousands to return home for R&R. The people are asked to wire money to the soldier to pay for his flight or he won’t be able to come home. This is a scam and not legitimate.

Yes I too was Scammed out of thousands of $ I barrowed believing in the words, photos and counterfit documents sent to me.

Why is it that no one seems willing to go Public/On the record about this scam?

Why isn’t there a entinty that will investigate this Robbery?

If I walked into a bank and missapproiated $10,000 dollars. I’m certain there would be a way to locate me!

Sincerely, another one of the thousands of single females being victimized for the past several years, with no assistance, or concern.

This scammer calls himself Captain Irwin Rooney, claims to have had an abusvie childhood, wife died in car crash, he has one daughter with his sister in canada, But I have done my homework, and have string him along, as I am writing this, he now waiting for the money, which I have not sent. So lads and ladies, learn from it. Never ever send any money to a stranger. I can across this site whilst looking at army scammers. If you look at it they are all similar stories. I am now waiting for him to get back to me or will he?????

just wanted to say yup i was the stupid one for fallin for that Thomas Watts character and I have to say I did get scammed out of 350.00 . I never knew how cruel and heartless people could actually be until I watched the MTV show Catfish and thats when I started thinkin after this Thomas Watts character had told me that the 350.00 was for his leave cause he had to pay it he then told me he needed money for his flight like 2,000.00. So I started thinking something didnt feel right like it just doesnt make sense I never heard of such a thing so I started questionin him all kinds of questions sometimes the same ones over again and he would always just answer me differently and he would get so mad when i ask him about military questions so thats when I knew I got scammed but I never did send him that 2,000.oo. I hope all this guys who are scammin these military man go down like literally. Im so upset with these characters giving our good troops bad names u know?! So I just hope you guys are working on this or someone is .

I was ask to be friends with a Gilbert Palmer on Facebook about a month ago. We have been IM on yahoo. He has been saying all the right things until yesterday…..he wishes to be with me for Christmas and he needs me to send him $580 for his luggage insurance. He has really been to sweet to be true and on and on….I was given this information this morning: I can send a Western Union for these monies to: Adams Joseph
    112 Ajose Street
    Victoria Island Lagos
    Nigeria 23401
Just wanted to let any other women that may be approached by this SCUM BAG impersonating our hard working military!!!!!!! DO NOT SEND HIM ANY MONEY!!!!! He has pictures posted of a military man and his small son that I wish I could find and let him know that these terrible people are posing as him! There should be something we can do to stop these people! If anyone has any suggestions of how I could find the man in the picture and let him or his family know of this FAKE posting I would appreciate it! This is disgusting for anybody to do to our military!!!!!!!
    Thank You

    • Amelia Moore March 28, 2013, 7:04 am

I have just cut all ties with “Gilbert Palmer ” as he has asked me for the same amount of money for the same thing as you but to be sent through western union to Ermelinda Solelo of Saudi Arabia, he even had the photos you described. He truly had me fooled. My advice to any women who comes across this good for nothing scam artistes to stay clear of him as he says all the right things. I hope one day this guy gets what he deserves.

      • Emma May 6, 2013, 3:54 pm

I have been emailing him since December 12, He has said he has needed to pay for flights to get him here and has asked for money. I have never given it to him, when I have refused he has got quite angry with me.

    • Nicola January 29, 2014, 8:10 am

I too have been emailing and falling for a guy who was so nice named Scott Woodford woodfordscott79@yahoo.com and telling me his son was Tyler Woodford tylerwoodford@live.com, whom he adopted when he was 27. He spoke about having children with me. Then wanted me to send him money for his sons private school fees since his bank accounts were frozen as some of the army accounts were hacked into and money stolen and there was an ongoing investigation being carried out. Got annoyed when I got suspicious and wouldn’t send money. He has sent me two pictures of himself and two of his son, which I would like to post, to help others not fall for this scam and be heartbroken.

  • Margaret Green January 30, 2013, 5:53 am

He said he owns a house in Melbourne . Address is real but I dont know if he owns it?? I have not paid any money and told him I wont , he says he still wants see me when his deployment is over. Is this guy for real!!

    • Patricia April 11, 2013, 8:03 am

      Hi Margaret,
Im Patricia, (Brisbane Austrlia) and a week ago I met CSM Carl Anderson on Be2 website.
I discovered he was a scam during the first days with our email/chatting.
I felt that I was receiving emails from 2 people (some mails were forwarded)
one seems to be serious with good English
the other one , poor English and trying to convince me that he is a real person.
He insists to know my address. Today I told him that the only
way we can talk is trough Skype. He sent to me confidential documents & pictures as well.
      This is unbelievable…
      my email: ledbyjoy66@gmail.com

    • Simone April 23, 2013, 1:12 am

      Hello Margaret
I would be very interested in the types of emails he was sending you. I meet Carl about a week ago through dating site Be2. I have questioned a number of things he has told me. For someone that corresponds with the Pentegon his english is not as good as I would have expected. He was shipped out to Kabul yesterday. This is about the 5th scam I have hit on this site.
You know what some people just want to meet someone to spend their time with and it gets ruined with these scams. It has turned me from a caring person to a questioning bit..
      Best of luck

  • Pam February 6, 2013, 12:58 pm

Hello, I just got scammed, and it sucks. He is going by the name Sherod Brown. I have talked to the other women on his fb page, and I am hearing all kinds of stories. Beware of this guy…he is smooth. I actually contacted a recruiter about this and he is checking into it for me. I have only met him a couple weeks ago, but he played me pretty good. Finally, before taking him off my friends list…I told him I figured it out and the gig was up! lol I also found a picture of some kid which was under a search engine I came across, which I posted in my message. I asked him if it looked familiar. lol He is reading my messages, and I hope is sweating bullets, for I told him I will not rest till I shut him down. He messed with the wrong woman.

  • Lea February 6, 2013, 1:19 pm

I met a guy on a UK dating site, who’s profile placed him in England…once we got talking he claimed to be a US solidier with Dual Nationality as his mother was English, and that he planned to settle here in the UK once his tour had finished. He was really very sweet and attentive, sent me photo’s in uniform etc, after a while he said he wanted to take leave to come to the UK and visit me. He stated that the military would pay for his flights, great! Then he came back with he needed 400 pounds sterling for an ‘exit visa’ to leave the base and that he couldn’t access his money whilst out in Afganistan…..that’s when the penny dropped!!!
How sick are these guys, I can’t believe all the sad experiences posted on here.
This guy claimed to be called Jerry Moe and uses Yahoo messenger….please be aware of men like this.

    • Tammy May 7, 2013, 4:13 pm

Lea! I have been in contact with a man named Jerry Moe, he said he lives in Oregon….So sweet and attentive but it started getting weird when he said he was in military and had contract work to do in Africa and that the army makes him pay for his own expenses and then gets reimbursed later. He even sent me his military ID but I am not buying it….Thanks for putting this out here so that others can be informed. If you want I can send you a pic to compare

      • Ann April 19, 2014, 7:11 pm

Sorry Jerry, Played you two, I bought it to till he said I need Money, 1,800.00
sent pictures, gave phone number out the hole nine yards

I get e mails and chat and pictures from a guy in Iraq, Dempsey Douglas, he wanted me to give him my address so he can send his luggage to my place before his arrival back home. He wants my address in California, he lives in Oregon, so he says he can stop in California and meet me. Go figure.
I googled the pictures, and it seems the guy exists, God only knows who is using his name.

Meet Jim Perez on Tagged.com. First 3 wks him seemed legit. Home & army photos. Senior Sgt MP in USA army; currently in UN work. I got a bit suspicious when he wanted me to send him money so he could phone me. He’s supposedly in Sudan. Had a bad feeling so did some reading up. Read a piece from an army guy who stated that army personal do have access to their own money, they can get their own calling cards, if they are deployed they do not have access to dating sites, techie.com (to email for phone contact) is a scamming site, and the military will pay for leave & flights. I queried JP about all this and he said it wasn’t true and don’t believe every thing you read. Over the past week this guy has changed his tune and become aggressive in his emails – very nasty words coming through now. Wanting the money for phone calls and giving another name and address for Nigera and WestonUnion banking. Any money going to this banking system or Nigera is also a scam. This guy is very good at wait he does – even to telling me (reluctantly) his MOS and sending through a copy of his CAC. The CAC had matched with what I saw on google about these card – ranking and all. This guy is a scammer (and he really didn’t like been told that). He doesn’t let thing go either – he’s very persistent. Still received another 2 emails this morning. Lady’s do not be fooled by this person – who ever is at the end of these horrible emails is not the person in the photos – STOLEN IDENTITY.

CSM Carl John Anderson – from Elite Dating Site. Only just recently had contact with this one. I see from previous submission that he has done the dating site rounds and is also a scammer. Only had 1 contact with this one but don’t think I’ll be contacting him back. Supposedly and American MP working with Australian Army in Sydney. Divorced. Both parents died at a young age and was raised by his nanny. What a joke.

I haven’t given any money but was certainly smitten by Perez. He’s a smooth talker. Tread carefully.

  • Naomi gados February 11, 2014, 3:52 pm

I was also contacted by one of these scammers. He goes by the name Captain Eric McDaniel. Says he is a widower with a daughter named Sandra and she is in boarding school while he is on his tour. He was in “love” with me after a few days. He wanted me to fill out some forms so he could go on leave and come home. I was very leary of the paperwork & the fact that it wasn’t in proper english like a legal US document would be. I called him out on it & said it was fake. He completely denied it and said I didn’t trust him like he trusts me, blah, blah, blah. He keeps messaging me, but I have been ignoring him. His email is mc_daniel02@aol.com . Be leary ladies. I went with my gut and never sent any money.

  • Seeker May 22, 2014, 10:37 am

I have been talking to a stg. Kelvin Keenee who said his wife cheated on him and he divorced her, he has a girl name Jane. He said his parents died and left him 5 million dollars. He said he got scammed after chatting with a woman online, she got him to lend her money by letting her have his bank acct to take money out, and she took out five times each time $10,000. After the fifth time the bank contacted him and he had the bank lock the account up before his deployment. Later he met me in a dating website and it’s been a year, I sent away more than $60,000 still have no way to get him out.

His email is stgkelvinkeenee@yahoo.com please don’t believe him. I don’t understand how in the world the army would leave him stranded in England for over a year. No matter what explanation I gave him regarding the unbelievability of his excuses, he would be upset and said he can only sit me down and explain to me when he gets back. Well I wanted to believe and help but one whole year of heartaches and loosing lifetime savings plus all my entire 2013 income, with nothing left for myself and he is still burning me all my income and every source of whatever money i can generate and borrow. I am grieved to the bones and dying. Don’t think I can keep going like this. Don’t know why I just keep believing.

  • D May 22, 2014, 6:02 pm

Any one heard of Micheal Leal in army?

  • Donna May 22, 2014, 6:07 pm

Met a man named Michael Leal that is stationed in Houston, Tx and in the Army. Born in Germany. Anyone ever heard of him? Thanks

  • Susanna Croasdale June 1, 2014, 6:17 am

I was interested to read the number of people in Australia attemptedly being scammed by CSM Carl Anderson – well he’s operating in the UK too. Was suspicious from the off with his outlandish claims and very poor English for a man who supposedly works with governments. I had the pics nd documents sent but thankfully my sister is a Police Inspector and he is under investigation – posing as an American Officer (MP) will result in serious ramifications for him. Don’t be drawn in by his orphaned past – he’s a liar.

    • Zoya June 14, 2014, 2:16 pm

Met him on OK Cupid his yahoo mail and messenger address is kerrpeter64@yahoo.com. Trying to find out if this valid. Please helppppppppppppp meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    Thank you

    • Stacey Abler June 9, 2014, 8:48 pm

Any time they ask for money it’s a scam. Tell him if he’s really a Captain, he’s making plenty of money to pay for a phone call. :)

  • Zoya June 17, 2014, 5:21 pm

    Dear girls,
Please do not trust easily and do not send money. Here are some features of the scams I experienced:
-very soon falling in love: 1-2 days
-never will meet you on a video talk
-if there is a video talk, always is a problem with the picture. You will hear mainly the voice
-if there is a picture, the voice will come from the side and the lips of the picture are not moving as the voice is talking : that is a computer imitation.Do not trust. Ask them to write on a list of paper
your name and the words “I love you”. They cannot do this .Will tell you that there is no paper or something else.
-many of them prefer the phone calls. You may use Skype on the phone as well or the messenger. Why should you pay money for that? They are using you again.
-many of them have little children, whose birthdays are just this week or this month,Should send money for a present.
Please, dear friends , everyone is searching for love or a intimate relationship. But it is not by sending money. Do not pay a dollar, even for phone calls. He who loves you will think about how to help you , not to use you!
When you refuse the money, you will see the real face of these men. No money, no funny! Many of them are not in the USA.They are in Ghana, Nigeria, Mallaisia etc. Many of them are youths 20-25 years old.
Be careful with meeting them as well in person. Some of them are “working” in groups.Meet always in a public places, with many people around. Take care of yourself. You deal with criminals.
    Be safe!Be blessed.
    Zoya

Had met this guy through Match.Com.Au, a certain CSM Carl John Anderson, parents died during his younger age, it was Nanny who took care of him, his father from US and mom from Sydney. Working in US Army as an Australian Adviser, assigned/ lived in Victoria Army Barracks. Presently, deployed in Kabul, Afghanistan and always mentioning working with his General. Today , he sent me a copy of his confirmation deployment and forwarded his Army ID with photo. He sent me photos and trying to tell about his love and searching for the right woman in his life that he’s very sincere and true…he like to have my full name and address but I will not send him any….but to stop emailing with him, he’s a SCAMMMMM and just wasting my time dealing his LIES and his intention to get money I am sure. Sooo girls take care of him, I am sure he is impersonating some Military officer’s name and using their photos. I hope one day, this kind of people will end up in the prison, sure it’s a group of people keep changing their names, email address, using other photos, etc. for the money they would like to get from people they tried to cheat! BEWARE!!!

  • Wendy Cheshire June 27, 2014, 12:28 am

I was recently contacted by a Garry R Marshall. We have been talking about 2 wks then he said that he feels like he is in love with me. Said his wife died in car accident and he has a 7 ywarbold son named Alex. Said that he is stationed on deployment for 7 mths and is wanting to come homenand meet me. After cpl wks he said thatni would have to request from his boss a leave request. He gave a an address to his boss colonel. gilbert101@gmail.com and ask for lewve. I did and got a reply in 3 or 4 hrs that said it was approved but I had to pay cause he had only been deployed for 7 mths. I have been corresponding to a soldier I met on Facebook claiming to be stationed in Libya and now is in Nigeria and I admit to have paid for his leave and flight fee. His next claim was that he’s retiring from the army and wants to deposit his pay into my account because he can’t access it but that I have to pay $7000 for it to be deposited into mine. Is this true? If not the bank will seize it. How can I tell this isn’t a scam. Please. I need guidance. He goes by name Roy Adams. I have not sent more money.

He asked for money – that’s the only thing you need to know that it’s a scam. Why would he need $7,000 to initiate a change in a deposit? When you go to your bank, do they charge you $7,000 to make a deposit? You’ve given him money in the past so now he’s just going to keep coming up with more reasons why he needs more. Please stop sending him money.

Thank you. Though now he claiming that the bank is going to seize it and that we’ll both face criminal law. He has his funds in the bank of Africa (BAU). And that a friend of his loan him $5500 and that I just pay the rest.

Is this something I should worry about or should I just blow him off.
