His parents were.

He had a Family day however he was not allowed off base. It was from 9 am to about 9pm or so. Just basically got to talk to them and wander around the base a little.

Long--- It is a great ceremony, the speaker was very good. Just make sure you get there early if you want to actually see

11. Is there a website for his basic training unit? Is there a place to see pictures of his training online?

I am not sure. He did buy the DVD though of his unit that was a tad bit interesting to see.

12. Any other tips or information?

Do NOT write letters to them in Basic that are sad if they are even slightly seen upset or depressed they go into LOS(line of sight), which means they are always watched. Basic training is not easy for anyone but you need to be strong for your man and really encourage them.

Thank you!

We are currently seeking writers to contribute about their soldier's experience during basic training. Since training, contact and the overall atmosphere can vary greatly from one basic training post to the next, I thought this would be helpful. If you would like to contribute your experience to help other Army family members, please email me this completed questionnaire. Thank you for your help!
