How long have you been here? 2005-2007
What is housing like? On-post? Off-post? The
new housing on post is absolutely beautiful. We lived off post in
Eagles Landing! It was perfect for our family. We paid $800.00 for
our rent - 3 bedroom 2 bath 10 year old ranch. Our neighbors bought
their houses for right around $90,000 in 2007.
Rate the PX & Commissary. Liked the PX.
Really didn't use the commissary it was too busy.
Activities on base? Bowling, Movies, Golf,
Plenty of celebration opportunities!!
Active Spouses Club? Did not participate
Things to do in area? There are ALOT of things
to do in the area you just have to look, We liked J.F. Gregory Park
in Richmond Hill, Henry Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill, the civil
war forts Ft. Pulaski, Ft. McAllister..there are a couple more just
can't remember the names!! Tybee Island, Oatland Island (known as
Savannah Zoo) and of course in Savannah there are tons of things
there...the museum, Savannah Ogeechee Canal and nature center I
could go on and on!! Like I said you just have to research things
to do.
School System? My children went to school off
post-Liberty county schools. It was fine for my second son. My
older son is Autistic and in my opinion don't provide enough
services for Special Education.
Any colleges in area? Savannah Tech has a
campus in Hinesville
Jobs? I did not work so I can't comment on
this.
Favorite aspect of this base/surrounding
city? I loved Ft. Stewart I thought it was beautiful. I liked
Savannah and Richmond Hill. Hinesville was okay, you just have to
drive a little ways to do things.
Least favorite aspect? Like I said before -
traveling to do things.

Any other tips? Don't look at this area as
"there is nothing to do". Just take the time to look.
