When did your soldier attend?
Summer 2007
Where was she stationed for AIT?:
Fort Bliss, TX (El Paso, TX)
How long was his AIT?: 23 WEEKS
What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he
train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field
based?: Everyday was the same for the most part, PT,
School, mail call, personal time, then lights out. She
had no school on the weekends, did get weekend and over
night passes if she passed her PT test with over 70% on
all three events. After she was in the Army for 20
weeks, she was moved to barracks that they were treated
like permanent party. She was allowed to stay out if she
wanted, go off post after duty hours and wear civi's
after duty hours. She did still have to answer to Drill
Sergeants and Cadre members. Most of her school was help
in class room environment, with one week FTX.
Did you get to see her during AIT?
I was able to take leave before my deploying to spend
time with my wife on the weekends and whatever four day
weekends came along.
How often were you able to
communicate with her? By phone? Email?We mostly spoke on
the phone at night when both of us had down time from
school and work.
Describe the graduation ceremony. : I didn't attend her
graduation, I was already deployed to Iraq.
