Your Name (as you would like it to appear): Krystel S.
Your Soldier's MOS (please include code and description, for example "11B Infantry") 15N Avionics Mechanic , he repairs wiring systems in helicopters.
When did your soldier attend? March 06-Oct 06
Where was he stationed for AIT? Fort Eustis
How long was his AIT? Actual schooling is 6 months but he was there for an extra week or 2 before he started schooling
What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based? My husband was prior service and in a prior service platoon so he went to school all day from like 8am-5pm and then he was free to do what he wanted. He was not on a pass system, although from what he told me the new recruits were and were only able in the 1st phases of AIT to go to places on post.
Did you get to see him during AIT? Yes luckily I was able to see him most weekend he would drive from VA to NC , when he did that he did have to get a mileage pass though.
How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone? Email? Every single day by cell phone and they had a computer lab where he could connect his laptop
Describe the graduation ceremony. The graduation was in a business size meeting/conference room maybe about 130 people, they song the Army song , had a guest speaker who spoke for maybe 10 min and then the graduates were handed there diplomas. My husband did some inprocessing stuff afterwards which took about 2 hours and then we drove back home.
