25B Information Systems Operator Analyst

Your Name (as you would like it to appear): Jessica

Your Soldier's MOS (please include code and description, for example "11B Infantry") 25B Information Systems Operator Analyst

When did your soldier attend? Late September, 2007 - Mid March, 2008

Where was he stationed for AIT? Fort Gordon, GA

How long was his AIT? 17 weeks, 3 days

What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based? It was classroom based on a fairly normal schedule. He had to report to school at 0800 and got out at about 1800 every weekday. He got the weekends off.

Did you get to see him during AIT? I got to see him during Exodus, and I also flew out to see him for 4 days on one of his 4-day weekends. I could have seen him a lot more, but I was across the country going to school. But I definitely could have seen him quite a bit more if I lived close.

How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone? Email? I got to talk to him everyday once he phased up enough. In the beginning we could talk on the weekends and a couple times during the week if we were lucky. But towards the end, by the time he was phase 5+, we could talk on the phone every day for pretty much as long as we wanted, we emailed regularly, and sent letters back and forth just for the fun of it.

Describe the graduation ceremony. I wasn't able to attend the graduation ceremony because I was so far away from him. But he told me all about it and it was a very motivational ceremony. There was about 36 graduating students so it was a semi-small ceremony. They got to hear speeches from a bunch of NCO's that instilled a lot of pride into them. It was held indoors in a really nice building (I don't know where, exactly. He didn't give me very specific details). Family was able to attend but only a few soldier's families actually made it. All together, he highly enjoyed the ceremony!

Any other tips or information? AIT is 100 times better than BCT, for sure! Even though your soldier may not have as many privileges as he'd like, especially in the beginning, that's all you have to keep in mind. It gets a whole lot better at the end.
