25Q Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator-Maintainer
Your Name (as you would like it to appear): Kayla Mitchell
Your Soldier's MOS (please include code and description, for example "11B Infantry") is 25Q but will be 25S in August
When did your soldier attend? July 2007-October 2007 and again August 2008-September 2008
Where was he stationed for AIT? Ft. Gordon for the first and somewhere in Sacramento next time (Navy base)
How long was his AIT? 3 months and this time 8 weeks plus in/out processing
What was his training like? Normal schedule? Did he train on weekends? Late at night? Classroom or field based? Normal Schedule, free on weekends, in class during the day, classroom based, but had a few FTX's
Did you get to see him during AIT? yes, I traveled up there twice to see him and once to bring him home!
How often were you able to communicate with him? By phone? Email? gah, 5,000 times a day :) Naw, we talked in the morning, at lunch, and before bed. There was a time difference and it was hard on me, I had to go by his time rather than mine. I felt he needed what sleep he got more than me.
Describe the graduation ceremony. Small class, freaking long, played a video, had a guest speaker, songs, soldiers creed, NCO said their creed, finally they walked and got a piece of paper and walked outside and did some stuff and was released.
Any other tips or information? Make sure he gets most of his out processing stuff done before hand, it makes it much easier. He did that and we left 1 hour after he graduated. All he had left to do was find some of his D.S.'s and get them to sign papers (thats what took so long finding them!)
They're not supposed to have cellphones on them but his was small enough he'd slip it in his wallet.
IT's a LOT better than BCT because you get to communicate. At Ft. Gordon, they have internet but they charge $7hr to use it!
