92Y - Unit Supply
Specialist
By: L. Mills
MOS: 92y - Unit Supply
Specialist
Attended: 05 May 2007 -
22 June 2007
Location: Ft. Lee, VA
Duration: 7 1/2 weeks
Training Schedule: PT
from 0600 - 0800, AM Chow from 0830 - 0930, "Personal Time" from
0930 - 1100, Lunch Chow 1130 - 1230, Class from 1300 - 2200, with a
break for dinner around 1700 - 1800, depending. All was just lecture
and in-class work, 3 or 4 tests throughout training, with 5 day FTX
at the end of training. As far as I know, there was PT on
Saturdays, (Sundays off entirely) and the rest of the day was theirs
to do with whatever they wanted. The first two weeks they weren't
allowed off post, but later on they were allowed off post all day so
long as they didn't get the pass revoked for behavioral or academic
problems. Typically they had accountability formations 3x a day,
once in the morning, once in the afternoon and then they could
resume whatever they were doing, and again at night before "lights
out". Lights out was usually 2030 - 2100, but since their training
ran later than that this was difficult to enforce. The other guys in
his room were up late and rowdy / noisy alot, so he would lose sleep
and become really grumpy!
During AIT, I did not
get an opportunity to visit, but I am sure I could have spent a few
weekend afternoons with him if I had been in the area.
Communication was
daily, every night after class though he was too tired to talk much.
On the weekends, we'd talk all day. Most guys didn't have internet
and e-mail access, but my DH had "dial-up" WWA and a Laptop, so we
would chat online often and email.
I was unable to attend
the ceremony, so I have no idea.
