My boyfriend is joining the Army and we are talking about getting married before he leaves for basic training..I would like to know what kind of benefits Army wives receive…We cant decide whether or not it would be practical for us to get married before he leaves or wait until after hes discharged.

If you’re planning to get married regardless, it will be easier to get married beforehand. But absolutely don’t rush into it if you’re not ready just to do it before he leaves.

The army tends to be somewhat slow about getting things done, so I’d recommend going and ahead and getting married. Financially, you will receive BAH and separation pay.
That said, don’t rush this major personal decision just for the money or the Army.
