Moving Expenses

My son is stationed at Fort Knox Ky. his wife is still here. My question is - Does the army have a uhaul or something to move her or does she have to move
herself?

If she was on his orders for Ft Knox, it is still possible that the Army will pay for her to move (assuming the Army didn’t pay for your son to move). If she is not on the orders or he has already had the Army pay for a move, she will be on her own with the moving expenses.

Typically, if the family is on the orders, the Army will pay for the move. Movers will be sent to the home to pack everything, load it, move it to the new location and then unload it again. The family can also elect to do a DITY (do it yourself move) if they choose. In these cases, the Army reimburses the soldier for moving expenses. However, the amount varies. Some have made thousands by doing this whereas others have lost money. The transportation office on post can usually give a fairly accurate estimate.

Hope this helps!

If we choose to have the army move us, they would pack up our stuff and move it, correct? But then what about the transportation of myself and my two children? Would we be reimbursed for our plane tickets?
